1. A courtesy runner shall be any available eligible substitute or if NO eligible substitutes, the LAST BATTED out. Courtesy runners are allowed for pitchers and catchers ONLY. The courtesy runner for pitcher or catcher can be inserted anytime.
2. The courtesy runner is not officially in the game.
3. The pitcher and catcher are identified as the last players who physically played that position on defense. In the top of the 1st inning only, the pitcher and the catcher are identified as those players listed on the lineup as the pitcher and the catcher.
